Foot Surgery Update

After four weeks of not being able to bear wait on my right foot and six weeks of being in a boot, I am happy to say that I am now boot free!

Last week my surgeon gave me the all clear to remove my boot and begin resuming normal activities. I can’t tell you how happy I am to have my appendage back.

At first, walking was very difficult. My right calf muscle pretty much gone due to atrophy and my Achilles tendon is very tight. I could only walk around the house before my calf would start shaking and I would have to sit down. Fortunately, that was short-lived. I was able to walk to the neighbor’s house for a Christmas party which was a big win.

But the best part is that I can drive again! My spouse is so incredibly happy he no longer has to play chauffer for the kids and me. It was very eye opening to realize just how much we take our appendages for granted.

I still have a way to go in terms of recovery (no hiking Mt. Washington or high heels for me just yet) but every day I’m making progress. Looking forward to pain free walking in the near future.
