Fantasy World

As I mentioned, this summer I wrote a lot of short stories. Two I submitted were picked up for publication.

The first one, A Tavern Tale was published by Four Tulips Publishing and can be read here. I had a lot of fun writing this piece. One of my favorite aspects of fantasy writing is that as the author, I get to make the rules. My job then is to convince you to believe my rules through the story that unfolds.

My harpies that I created in this story are some of my favorite characters. I haven’t read a lot of work with harpies as main characters or that doesn’t portray them as having mostly animal physical features. But when I did some research into them, they are fascinating.

I have sort of fallen out of love with reading fantasy, but I understand why there is so much of it out there right now. It is really fun to world build! I may develop a longer story using some of these characters later.

I am forever grateful to Four Tulips Publishing for picking my piece to include in their Fantastic Mischief Anthology. If you want to read the entire collection of pieces, you can purchase a physical copy of the anthology here.
