I mentioned in a previous post that I broke my foot back in May…
Well after many months of pain and doctor’s appointments, I am finally on the road to recovery. I had surgery at the end of October. The broken part of my sesamoid bone was removed and the tendon tear was repaired. This is an oversimplification of this procedure of course. My doctor said surgery went well.
I’m now in a boot and not allowed to put pressure on my foot for four weeks. After that, my doctor will reassess and see how I am healing. I am hopeful to be walking again by Thanksgiving.
My parents came out for the first two weeks of my recovery and helped take care of the house and the kiddos. And while they were helpful, my kids have missed having a mom who can run around with them, play games on the floor and drive them around. While it sounds like I’m having a nice break, I miss doing all these things. Being a mom is my favorite job and you don’t realize how much you rely on being ambulatory until it’s taken away.
So for now, I’m stuck on the couch most of the day. But that doesn’t mean I’m not doing anything. I have written three short stories, knitted a sweater, read five books and binged a bunch of podcasts. Yeah, it’s a bit boring but still productive.
Here’s to hoping for a speedy recovery.
